The ball mill is the key equipment for grinding the material after it is crushed. It is the main machine in many industries such as cement and chemical industry. In the ball mill equipment, its steel ball components occupy an important position, which drives the production and operation of the whole machine. This article focuses on the types and materials of ball mill balls for the user's reference. 1. Types of grinding balls (1) Forged steel balls: Adopt better wear-resistant materials, such as international 60Mn, 65Mn, with good quality, good impact resistance, high toughness, and good wear resistance. (2) Cast steel ball: The production of cast steel balls is relatively simple and the production investment is small. With the characteristics of low energy consumption, high impact toughness, flexibility, etc., and due to easy production technology and operation won the favor of the majority of users. (3) Hot-rolled steel ball: Has a good shape, small geometric tolerances, stable quality, and low wear rate. The long service life is 2 to 5 times that of the existing cast iron ball and forged steel ball, and the price is moderate. 2. Materials of grinding balls (1) High manganese steel: This material has good toughness, good craftsmanship, and low price. Its main feature is that under the action of a large impact or contact stress, the surface layer will quickly produce work hardening. The work hardening index is 5-7 times higher than other materials, and the wear resistance is greatly improved. (2) Low-carbon alloy steel balls: The ball made of low-carbon alloy casting has good toughness and low price. Under the same working conditions, its service life is more than 1 times higher than that of low-chromium cast ball. The ball made of low-carbon alloy casting has good toughness and low price. Under the same working conditions, its service life is more than 1 times higher than that of low-chromium cast ball. (3) High chromium cast iron: It is a kind of wear-resistant material with excellent anti-wear properties, but its toughness is low, it is prone to brittle crushing and it is expensive. (4) High carbon and high manganese alloy steel: The material is mainly composed of alloy structural steel containing chromium, molybdenum and other elements, with high hardness and good toughness. Under the same working conditions, its service life is at least 1 times higher than that of high-manganese steel balls.
